DeKalb County is one of the largest refugee resettlement areas in the country. As such, there is a huge need for community based programs for English Language Learners.

ICS students receive tutoring and support in studying for their regular curriculum, while older siblings and parents attend ESL classes and get assistance navigating a new culture and national infrastructure.

To volunteer for this program, please email us at volunteer@icsgeorgia.org.

The English as a Second Language classroom is often the first line of defense against the culture shock experienced by refugees
newly arrived to America.

Newly arrived refugees are in need of both a safe, welcoming environment and tools for surviving in a new and vastly unfamiliar land.
