Language Programs

All students at ICS study a second language.

Native speakers of languages other than English must go through a rigorous English as a Second Language (ESL) program before joining their classmates in either French or Spanish.

In order to maximize the students' ability to learn, ESL class sizes are kept to six or fewer students.

French and Spanish classes are taught by native speakers, and include games, music and performances in addition to more traditional methods of instruction.

Intensive English language instruction is hugely important in helping students newly arrived to America to overcome their culture shock and successfully settle into their new home.

Studying a second language not only expands students' cultural horizons
and their ability to communicate with others, it has also been demonstrated to improve overall school performance and lead to superior problem-solving skills.
