DeKalb County is one of the largest refugee resettlement areas in the country. As such, there is a huge need for community based programs for English Language Learners.

ICS students receive tutoring and support in studying for their regular curriculum, while older siblings and parents attend English as a Second Language classes and get assistance navigating a new culture and national infrastructure.

To volunteer for this program, please email us at volunteer@icsgeorgia.org.

The English as a Second Language classroom is often the first line of defense against the culture shock experienced by refugees
newly arrived to America.

Newly arrived refugees are in need of both
a safe, welcoming environment and tools for surviving in a new and vastly unfamiliar land.
