We are a DeKalb County public charter IB school serving grades Kindergarten through Fifth, located in Decatur, Georgia. International Community School was founded to bring together refugee, immigrant, and local students in a community dedicated to mutual learning. New Beginnings Teacher Training Program

ICS partners with Refugee Women’s Network to empower refugee women to navigate the path to a full-time career in education. 

Refugee women, many of whom have work experience and higher education in their home countries, are uniquely situated to address the teacher shortage faced in Georgia. This program, facilitated in partnership with Refugee Women’s Network, seeks to overcome barriers to employment and to help each aspiring teacher meet individualized career goals.

 

AmeriCorps

We partner with Notre Dame Mission Corps to host a team of Americorps members serving at ICS. NDMVA is a network of volunteers serving at various sites around the country, all non-profits committed to improving access to education in immigrant and/or economically disadvantaged communities.

At ICS, AmeriCorps members serve 10-month terms as coordinators and coaches. You will gain career experience working with small groups of students in areas such as academic intervention, social and emotional learning, community engagement, and performance of school duties. Our service members are vital players in all areas of school life!

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate teacher who is dedicated to student success. The Homeroom Teacher will be responsible for providing dynamic classroom instruction to students through a rigorous and holistic educational model, ensuring that students gain the skills needed to thrive. 

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing dynamic classroom instruction to students with specific learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, autism, other health impairments, and emotional and behavioral disorders.

We are seeking a Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional to provide instructional support, implement IEP accommodations, and foster an inclusive environment. You will lead interventions, supervise students, and model IB values within our community.

The Campus Support Technician helps maintain and care for the school’s gardens, outdoor learning
spaces, and campus grounds while supporting student wellness through fresh, healthy snack
preparation.

As STEM Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching and guiding K-5 students in science, technology, engineering, and math, developing STEM curricula and creating lesson plans with other teachers, and implementing classroom activities that will encourage students to think creatively and critically. The ESOL Teacher will be responsible for providing engaging lessons to English language learners, focusing on developing their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills across various proficiency levels. They will foster a supportive learning environment.
